Holy sh*t. Many know that Spot produced a lot of classic punk records in the '80s -- Minutemen, Husker Du, Dicks, etc. Fewer know that he is a very capable player of guitar, banjo and other strings as well as drums. He's recorded before, but probably nothing has prepared the knowingest for the level of expertise on show in these five instrumentals.
It won't take even 20 minutes, so do yourself a favor and drop in on the Celtic-influenced flow of the first three numbers, and the blues and distorto passion of the other two. You'll hear jazz harmonies, deft transitions, intelligent structures and memorable melodies. And you'll want to hear them again.
Thanks, Spot. What did we do to deserve this?
