Courageous and persistent, yes, but man, what a singer Barbara Morrison was. She got through to us because she had lived every gritty, intimate note, and put her joyful and sorrowing soul into each one. She was out there on L.A. stages practically every week, not just because she wanted to be, but because people wanted to hear her. Deeply involved in the community, too. Some stars all the world knows. And some other stars make all the difference.
On Sat. March 26 starting at 2pm, a celebration of Barbara Morrison's life will take place around the Barbara Morrison Performing Arts Center, 4305 Degnan Blvd. #101, Leimert Park 90008.
