Wed. Sept. 4 -- Good reasons to see Deep Purple at this late date? 1) '70s members Ian Gillan, Ian Paice and Roger Glover continue to groove at top click. 2) Later conscripts Steve Morse (guitar) and Don Airey (keyboards) are legends in their own right, and you'll wanna hear Morse work his subtle magic before his hand issues preclude it. 3) They're still making strong new albums and playing songs off 'em, not just "Smoke on the Water" and "Child in Time." 4) They effin JAM. With Joyous Wolf. At the Wiltern, 3790 Wilshire Blvd., LA 90010; 8pm; $50-$180; (213) 388-1400; www.livenation.com.
