Bruce Kalberg, a.k.a. Bruce Caen, publisher of the early-'80s art-punk sheet No Mag and author of the novel "Sub-Hollywood," died Saturday morning, September 17, at the age of 62. According to friend Ewa Wojciak, he had been battling leukemia, with complications from Guillain-Barré Syndrome, an immune-system malfunction.
Kalberg's culural contributions were overshadowed by his killing of artist Peter Haskell, whom he shot in a downtown loft struggle three years ago. No charges were filed against him.
May they both rest in peace.
